Traditional mobile phone signal jammers use white noise broadband transmission and rely on power to suppress interference to achieve the effect of signal shielding. However, with the rapid deployment of 5G base stations by various communication operators, the high density of base stations has shortened the effective distance of customer signal shielding. Some customers suggested increasing the transmission power of the signal jammer to solve this problem. So what is the shielding effect if the power of the mobile phone signal jammer is doubled? Can the shielding distance be doubled?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final result may not be as expected. Let’s consider a practical scenario: Assuming that the average transmission power of each output frequency band of a Cell Phone signal jammer<\/a> is 2W, when testing the effective shielding distance with a mobile phone, assuming that the effective shielding range radius of the field test is 10 meters, if it is replaced with a mobile phone signal jammer with an average output power of 4W for testing, it will be found that doubling the power does not necessarily double the effective shielding radius. In this specific environment, it is almost impossible to achieve a radius of 20 meters. However, we can observe that compared with the original distance of 10 meters, the effective shielding distance has increased slightly, which may reach about 12 or 13 meters. Sometimes it even seems that there is no change, and the distance remains at about 10 meters. Why does this happen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason lies in the conversion from power (“W”) to the level value (“dBm”) commonly used in RF communications. The conversion formula shows that doubling the power will result in a 3dBm increase in the level value. Using the previous example, when the output power is 2W, the corresponding level value is 33dBm. When the power is doubled to 4W, the level value becomes 36dBm. In order to achieve a stable shielding effect, the mobile phone signal jammer<\/a> usually requires that the interference signal strength (i.e., the level value) emitted by it is at least 5-8dBm higher than the base station signal strength. In the actual environment, due to the large number of base stations, different locations, orientations and other influencing factors, the signal strength of the base station is not fixed, but constantly fluctuates. Sometimes the base station signal is strong, sometimes weak, and the fluctuation range can exceed 5dBm. Due to this variability, even if the transmission power of the mobile phone signal jammer is increased by one gear (i.e., the level value is increased by 3dBm), its increase may fall within the range of the base station signal fluctuation jump, so it is difficult to observe a significant increase in the signal shielding distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
